Mission Statement
Our goal at Rockford Psychiatric Medical Services is to combine compassionate mental health treatment with the most advanced medical treatment options available in order to effectively treat emotional suffering.
William J. Giakas, M.D.
Dr. Giakas completed his psychiatry residency at the Yale University School of Medicine. He is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry, and the Subspecialites of Forensic Psychiatry (Psychiatry and the Law) and Geriatric Psychiatry. He is also board-certified by the American Board of Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Giakas is a frequent lecturer, a speaker for the pharmaceutical industry, and is an expert consultant for a variety of legal issues.
Zella V. Moore, APN
Zella is a licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber and Board Certified Nurse Practitioner. She completed her undergraduate BS degree at Rush University College of Nursing, and she completed
her Masters of Science Degree in Advance Practice Nursing & Psychiatry at Rush University Graduate College. Zella has ANCC Board Certification and is a former member of the U.S. Army Nurse Corp (Honorably Discharged). Her current practice focuses on mood disorders, dementia, and ADHD.
Jean Cooper, MS, LCPC, CADC
Jean joined Rockford Psychiatric Medical Services as a full time psychotherapist in 2000. Jean is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She earned M.S. in Applied Family and Child Studies with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northern Illinois University and a B.S. from Bradley University. Jean has experience in family, child, adolescent, individual, marital and group therapy as well as addictions counseling. She has specific training in solution-focused therapy, sexual issues, drug and alcohol treatment, child and adolescent development, and parenting issues.
Kelly Finch, LCSW
Kelly has over 20 years of experience in the field of social work. She received her Masters of Social Work degree from the University of IL, Champaign/Urbana and a B.A. in psychology from Loras College, Dubuque, IA. She has been working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Rockford Psychiatric Medical Services since 2000. Kelly has extensive experience in working with youth and their families and specializes in play therapy. She provides individual, marital, and group therapy for a variety of issues such as; depression, bipolar mood disorder, and anxiety disorders. She has specialized training in sexual abuse trauma and women's issues.
